Hand stitched flowers....

There is something beautiful and ancient about creating and in the making of things...

Stitching, tying, dyeing, wrapping, drawing, painting and printing.

I feel a sense of connectedness to the traditions of my sisters, mother, Grandmothers and Aunts as far back as i can imagine.

Even just the simple act of pushing needle through fabric. The tools have evolved somewhat but the sentiment is the same...

This is a quilt i've started piecing together using my beautiful Grandmother's hand embroidered cottons and handmade lace... She was an Estonian woman, strong, loving and the most wonderful seamstress....I dream of sitting and sewing with her in a cloud somewhere..She would sing me Estonian songs about little ships in harbours...

I mix it with some of my own and we all unite in stitch as family..
