Ease up on each other...

Sometimes we women are our own worst enemy... So easy getting caught up in rubbish and pride and ownership battles.

There is nothing new, what we create is a sum of so many different things we have absorbed, sometimes knowingly and sometimes unconsciously...

"Einstein didn't invent a new kind of math.
He did not need to credit other sources
because he took those existing ideas
and used them in a way nobody had before. " I saw this on grrl + dog

I say this as a lovely friend of mine has been attacked (with words not a knife!) with accusations of stealing ideas.... Not true and a little crazy and well also just sad.

Sad that we can't learn to celebrate each others art and different takes on similar themes, instead of trying to own things. So pointless, all it does is plant a bitter root inside you that grows ever stronger with every negative thought - until it consumes you completely...

So i say celebrate, live, love, learn, and encourage each other to grow stop trying to chop each other down...

In any case i invite you to celebrate some things my lovely friend creates and take a little peek at some new interpretations of old elements...

Please share this with other women, i reckon we all need a bit of reminding occasionally... Plus nothing makes you feel stronger than support...

Yey Markets!!!

Lotsa stuff cooking in the kitchen (literally cooking) right now.

Just opened My Liefie on etsy and am about to go crazy and go to Canberra (oooh cold) to do some markets for spring.

First market is this Saturday at Fash N Treasure at the Old Bus Depot Building in Kingston.

I will have Hum and Rattle stuff as well as My Liefie, such a nutty mix but it's amazing how great the bright colours of the vintage fabrics look against the earthy tones..

Should be interesting anyways, i love meeting happy market people..

The Red Leaf...

Here's my girl Lulu Jade...

She says she wants to be a cowgirl when she grows up...

and a Mumma...

She says she want to make things like me when she grows up
(don't grow up my baby girl - not yet)

She learnt how to do blanket stitch a few weeks back, she dyed her own scarf with onion skins. It is beautiful, it looks like flames.

Mostly i just feel blessed that she's ours..
I see the girl she is becoming and my heart fills with joy.

Oh my little ladybug xx

Some things are worth sharing...

I read this last night,
it's a letter a stunning friend of mine has written to her younger self.

I love it!

If only we really could reassure ourselves in this way...

Dominic King..

Sometimes i wonder what i'm doing here...
I mean in my life...
Like i know there is a place and purpose for us all and i wonder am i here, have i fulfilled it yet?

Our children desperately want a pet...

We have a fish.
His name is Dominic King, but you can't pick him up and squeeze love into him. He doesn't catch the ball or wag his tail when you come home...

I hear them repeat what we've told them to others "One day when we have our own place I'm gonna get a little kitty and call her Poncho, and Elijah is gonna get a guinea pig and Moses is going to get a boy dog"....

So we've got a loose plan and a suitcase full of dreams and are watching for an open door and being mindful of those that close and lead us elsewhere...

My beautiful husband wrote this down today;

'Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.' It's from Proverbs 13:12
So i know it's gonna be Ok...sometimes you just lose hope..that's what we have each other for..

Sunday colour...

Two pots
a couple bags of Eucalyptus leaves collected on a ride with the little ones
a few of oak leaves in the bundles from my Ma's wonderful garden
milkymerino, habutai silk, cotton singlets
water
and one humble barbeque

All of these were in those two pots
The colour variations in nature never ever cease to amaze me.

As my Elijah says "you know God did a good job Mumma"..

Some pics from The Muddi Boutique Markets from the Christmas market.

I had such a great day and really enjoyed meeting all the lovely people who visited my stall and loved the bush dyes and vintage fabric designs.

Was awesome to catch up with some beautiful old friends from art school and see what everyone else is creating, so inspiring...

I was next to my gorgeous friend Sarah Murray and her "Pie in the Sky" stall, so much colour, honey woollen birdie mobiles, stunning tea towel tops and general handmade goodness...

I will be heading back for the "Boutique Me" market on the 27th of February from 9am - 2pm so come along and see what i've been up to over the crazy Christmas hols...

Ive started a bit of a shop on madeit.com too where i'll be listing things as i get to them.
